Arzachel is a humanistic sanserif with a big x-height and a specific organic look. Its design is scientifically sharp and efficient in small type sizes as well as rugged and dramatic in headlines.
Arzachel’s essential feeling comes from several features: all the letters are slightly sloped, stem terminations are flared at the top, and the terminals in letters a, c, e, f… are widening with the inside parts completely flat. The stroke contrast is low in the regular weight while it increases in the black; finally the capitals have an inscriptional flavor. Despite being a sanserif (thus a product of recent typography) Arzachel’s roots stretch back to the Renaissance tradition: Olocco took inspiration from some of the early and rather weird types cut in Venice in the 15th century.
Arzachel was conceived during Olocco’s MA in Reading to provide a companion for his Zenon for use in small type sizes. But instead of expanding the Zenon family with optical sizes, the designer decided on a sans with its own personality rather than a sanserif version of Zenon with chopped-off serifs.

Sole Sans, companion to Sole Serif, is a newspaper sanserif available in a wide range of weights and styles. It’s a workhorse, suitable for headlines, diagrams, graphics and tabular work. Contrast at the junctions between arches and stems is a feature of early 19th-century sanserifs which inspired Sole Sans. It was originally designed for the leading Italian financial newspaper Il Sole 24 ore.

Sempione Grotesk is a sans of ‘Swiss’ inspiration with a big x-height. It works well at all sizes, from small to large, and is suitable for both publishing and advertising. Starting from the study of Forma typeface, this font picks up some very different typographic tradition and ideas. These include ligatures and ornaments etc., usually associated with seriffed typefaces, and features typical of the Swiss school of sans serifs such as horizontal terminations and letters that tend to be of equal width.

Elegance flows through Couturier Poster soul. The new cousin of early launched Couturier, brings higher contrast and an extended family, perfect for big sizes. Inspired by the didones from the 18th century, its design its heavily influenced by contemporary ideas makes it suitable to use for almost anything you can think of. Equipped with swashes, ligatures, small caps and alternates, this typography is very versatile and allows you to set a big range of compositions with discretion or personality. Couturier Poster comes in six weights and matching true italics, from thin to black. It’s a good choice to pair with Couturier for smaller sizes and Couturier Poster for the big titles.

Winslow Book is a playfully modern typeface with 6 weights and packed with styling features. Delicate features give it a playful feel while keeping Scotch Modern attributes of vertical stress, bracket serifs and ball terminals, while unique features give it a personality of its own. Winslow was designed to be a perfect typeface for text and display purposes.

Because optionality is always fun, Winslow comes with an array of alternative features that add and extra bit of flare. From stylistic alternatives to tail serifs (in K, k, d, h, m, n) to complete new character designs (for g, y and &) a designer can choose between which style they need for any project. The primary font »Sync Base« is a powerful, condensed Sans Serif. Sharp cut edges, narrow wedge-shaped counters and low ascenders and descenders make the compact character of the typeface.

In perfect sync with the primary font, the family includes the retro styles Lines, Engravings, Stripes and Shadows and the texture styles Invisible and Jungle. Each one of them with multiple fonts.

As all Sync fonts have the same metrics, they can easily be layered in different colors to create the desired effects by using graphic applications that allow utilizing layers.

VLNL Berlagebrug
Designer Donald DBXL Beekman daily crosses the Berlage bridge spanning the Amstel river in Amsterdam. The Berlagebrug was built as part of the city planning project ‘Plan Zuid’ by H.P.Berlage and opened in May 1932. Its name, carved out of two granite headstones, sparked the design of this font family. The original lettering is attributed to Anton Kurvers in the early 19th century, and can be seen on many Amsterdam buildings and bridges. It’s typical lettering of the Amsterdamse School, the Dutch equivalent of the expressionist art deco architectural style, and mostly known for its extravagant brick work.
VLNL Berlagebrug is a rounded display font that comes in three outline styles matching the building materials used in the bridge. Gietijzer (cast iron) is smooth, Zandsteen (sandstone) has a softly distressed outline, and Graniet (granite) is outspoken rough and crumbled. The capital letters in VLNL Berlagebrug are in the Amsterdamse school style, the lowercases are more straight alternate capitals, giving you more design options.
